    This was an announced Enter and View visit as part of a planned strategy to look at several acute mental health wards provided by the Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, to obtain a good idea of the quality of care provided.

    Lessons from Haringey’s most vulnerable service users. This report is a summary of issues and concerns experienced by Haringey adult social care service users and carers during the lockdown. Suggestions for service improvements are also presented.

    Providing GP services over the phone and online through the internet has had a big impact on patients’ ability to contact their surgeries and their relationships with GPs.

    If ever there was a need for the voices of patients, service users and the public to be heard it was in 2020/21, and in this report you will read about the ways in which we worked in this testing period.

    We looked at how young people’s mental health and wellbeing was impacted by COVID-19 and lockdowns. We found increased levels of stress, anxiety and mental ill health.

    Long COVID has had a huge impact on people’s physical and mental health . We heard from Haringey people about the challenges of living with Long COVID, and the difficulties of getting a diagnosis and accessing appropriate health services and support.

    This was another challenging year for health and care services, and people wondered whether services would return to “business as usual” or whether they had changed for the long-term.

    This year we continued to chart the challenges for many people in accessing health and social care and we focussed on the importance of research in understanding the unmet needs of patients.

    Young people were heavily impacted by COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdowns from 2020 to 2022, experiencing disruption to schooling and education and uncertainty over exams and results. We explored these issues by looking at the impact of COVID-19 and lockdowns on the mental health and wellbeing of young people in Haringey. During 2022 we followed up our first report, which was based solely on online surveys, with qualitative research.

    As Haringey previously had one of the highest stillbirth rates in England, North Central London NHS asked Healthwatch Haringey to look into inequalities in health and care provision.
